SÃO PAULO, Brazil – JBS S.A., through its subsidiary Seara Alimentos Ltda., acquired pork processor Adelle Indústria de Alimentos Ltda., for R235 million ($59,643,000). The transaction is subject to approval by the Brazilian Antitrust authority.
Under the terms of the deal, Seara will pay R80 million through a transfer of the Frederico Refrigerated Pork Plant in Rio Grande do Sul; R115 million through debt assumption and R40 million in local currency.
Adelle produces a variety of value-added pork products including smoked sausages, hams and frozen pork items. For JBS, the acquisition expands the company’s ability to meet growing demand for hams sausages, bacon and other prepared pork products.
In February, JBS USA announced a $20 million expansion of its Plumrose USA subsidiary in Ottumwa, Iowa.
