BARRON, Wis. — A fire broke out at a Jennie-O Turkey feed mill in Barron, Wisconsin on Sept. 9. Jennie-O is a subsidiary of Hormel Foods.
The Barron County Sheriff’s Department posted a statement on Facebook saying it responded to the fire at 7:32 a.m. on Monday along with several other fire departments from neighboring towns. By 9:19 the fire was under control, according to their statement.
Hormel Foods thanked local officials for their quick response to the fire.
“We would like to thank the first responders who worked diligently to save the historic mill,” Hormel said. “We are thankful that there weren’t any team members injured and that the fire is out. Our hope is that the mill can be saved as it’s been an important part of this community for many years. We are not sure what caused the fire and will be working with the local fire authorities on an investigation as soon as it is safe to do so.”
