ARCADIA, Wis. – A Pilgrim’s Pride poultry processing plant in Arcadia, Wisconsin, was evacuated following a chemical spill on Oct. 22.
The Arcadia Police Dept. and the Arcadia-Glencoe Fire Dept. initially responded to the call which came at 10:05 a.m. Employees at the plant were evacuated safely. First responders treated 31 individuals at the scene, while 10 of those individuals were taken to local hospitals for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
In a statement, Pilgrim’s said, “We can confirm there was a chemical spill at our Arcadia, Wisconsin, facility on Tuesday morning. Out of an abundance of caution, 10 team members were taken to the hospital for observation, and all were evaluated and released. The impacted area of the facility is now safe and operational. We are grateful no one was hurt and thank the local emergency response team for their support.”
The Arcadia Police Dept. is investigating the incident.
