GARNER, N.C. – Butterball Foodservice announced a new line of snack products on Jan. 16 as part of the company’s emphasis on making turkey more prominent as an in-between-meal eating option. Three varieties will be available including Thanksgiving, Citrus teriyaki and Cajun.
The Thanksgiving seasoned turkey breast snack will combine stuffing bites and dried cranberries. Citrus teriyaki features the same turkey breast with sesame sticks and dried pineapple pieces. Finally, the Cajun variety includes turkey breast, cornbread crisps and apple pieces.
The products are portioned for convenience and contain 100 percent all-natural turkey breast with 10 g. of protein, 140-180 calories and are low in sodium.
“Moving away from the typical cheese and cracker varieties or the protein-only options often found in the snacking space allowed us to venture into more complex flavor combinations and offer unexpected snack components like cornbread crisps and dried pineapple,” said Michelle Lieszkovszky, Butterball innovation brand manager of emerging innovation. “We’ve reimagined the snacking space and struck the perfect balance of coupling unique flavors with a strong nutrition profile.”
The company’s new line is in response to what it said is a significant demographic change and a shift in buying power to younger consumers.
“It’s an exciting time to be innovating for a storied brand like Butterball,” said Jeff Mundt, Butterball vice president of research and development and innovation. “We’re always looking for ways to introduce fun and energizing creations that get people excited about new ways to enjoy a favorite protein.”
