WASHINGTON — The National Chicken Council (NCC) released its annual Chicken Wing Report before Super Bowl LIV. According to NCC findings, Americans will eat 1.4 billion chicken wings throughout Super Bowl weekend.
The trade association said that wing consumption around the big game is projected to be up 2 percent from 2019. That means 27 million more wings will be consumed.
The NCC said 65 percent of Americans who eat chicken wings claim they like to do so while watching a major sporting event. Fifty-one percent of people surveyed said they believe chicken wings should be the official food of the Super Bowl.
“Football is great. Wings are great. But they're even better together," said Tom Super, spokesman for the NCC. "Sure, you can have your chips, your guacamole, your pizza. But when it comes to Super Bowl menus, wings rule the roost. So, grab a wet nap, dive in and help put a dent in that 1.4 billion.”
