BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – Applegate Farms, a subsidiary of Hormel Foods Corp., revealed its new Well Carved line featuring burgers and meatballs that combine meat with vegetables, legumes and grains.
The product planned to be unveiled this week at Natural Products Expo West, but the show was postponed due to caution regarding the coronavirus.
The Well Carved burgers and meatballs, which will be released in April 2020, feature four items. The two burger options offer a grass-fed organic beef burger mixed with cauliflower, spinach, lentils and butternut squash. The organic turkey burger is mixed with sweet potato, great northern bean, kale and roasted onion.
"People love meat and they aren't going to simply stop eating it, nor should they have to, regardless of how many highly processed soy or pea-based burgers you put on the market," said John Ghingo, president of Applegate. "Well Carved offers an easy way for consumers to enjoy the real, clean meat they crave while also reducing overall consumption. The Well Carved line shows that better meat is possible."
In meatballs, the organic Asian style pork meatball features brown rice, green onion carrot and parsley. The last meatball option is the organic Mediterranean style turkey meatball which includes lentils, feta cheese and spinach.
In March 2020, Applegate Naturals announced a slow cooked ham to its portfolio that has no sugar and is Whole30 approved. Just like all other Applegate products it has no artificial ingredients and no chemical nitrates or nitrites.
