The number of people actively following a diet is up significantly in comparison to 2019, according to The International Food Information Council’s (IFIC) 2020 Food & Health Survey. The annual survey was conducted between April 8 and April 16, about one month into COVID-19.
Forty-three percent of respondents said they are following a diet, as compared to 38% in 2019 and 36% in 2018. Many of these diets focus on reducing carbohydrate intake while boosting protein consumption. Meat and poultry are often on the menu.
