OTTAWA, ONTARIO – JBS Food Canada updated its recall of Provigo brand ground beef products due to possible E. coli O157 contamination. The original recall was initiated by JBS Food Canada on Sept. 27.
Additional information was identified by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency's (CFIA) food safety investigation.
The recall warns the public against consuming the following recalled products:
- Variable size Provigo Medium ground beef club packs with UPC codes that begin with 0 213026 bearing Best Before dates of 23.SE2020 up to and including 28.SE 2020
- Variable size Provigo Medium ground beef packs with UPC codes that begin with 0 214117 bearing Best Before dates of 23.SE2020 up to and including 28.SE 2020
- Variable size Provigo Lean ground beef fresh club pack with UPC codes that begin with 0 217334 bearing Best Before dates 23.SE2020 up to and including 28.SE 2020
- Variable size Provigo lean ground beef packs with UPC codes that begin with 0 217331 bearing Best Before dates of 23.SE2020 up to and including 28.SE 2020
- Variable size Metro Lean ground beef with UPC codes that begin with 0 201020 bearing Best Before dates of 24.SE2020 up to and including 26.SE 2020
- Variable size Metro Lean ground beef family pack with UPC codes that begin with 0 201710 bearing Best Before dates of 24.SE2020 up to and including 26.SE 2020
CFIA continues to conduct a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products. CFIA will notify the public through updated Food Recall Warnings if other high-risk products are recalled. CFIA will verify the industry is removing the recalled products from the marketplace once it completes that process.
No illnesses have been linked to consumption of products.
