EL SEGUNDO, CALIF. — Beyond Meat Inc. announced on Sept. 29 plans to triple distribution of the Beyond Burger in Walmart stores to more than 2,400 locations in October.
The plant-based meat company began selling frozen products to the world’s largest retailer in 2015. In the past five years, Walmart continued to expand its Beyond Meat line, which now includes Beyond Sausage and Beyond Breakfast Sausage.
“Walmart has been a terrific partner and we’re excited to strengthen that partnership in depth and breadth as we look to offer more Beyond Meat products at more Walmart locations, furthering our commitment to increasing accessibility of plant-based meat,” said Chuck Muth, chief growth officer for Beyond Meat.
Beyond Meat binds plant-based proteins, fats and minerals to create a structure similar to beef or pork. The company uses no gluten, soy or bioengineered ingredients in its products. Products are currently at 112,000 retail locations in 85 countries.
The company recently doubled its retail distribution for Beyond Breakfast Sausage, which includes Walmart.
