KANSAS CITY, MO. – With Thanksgiving 2020 less than a week away, Americans are putting the final touches on their holiday meal plans. While fewer people will be gathered around holiday tables, turkey will still make an appearance at the center of many Thanksgiving spreads.
In last week’s episode of the MEAT+POULTRY podcast, Sophie Mellet-Grinnell, meat and poultry expert, foodservice professional and market specialist at the Bronx, NY-based Baldor Specialty Foods, described how her company prepared for this year’s holiday turkey season.
In Part 2, Mellet-Grinnell lays out what went into home delivery during the pandemic. In addition, she discusses the company’s outlook for distribution for now and the future.
Mellet-Grinnell also addresses customers’ interest in prepackaged turkey ahead of the pandemic holiday while other specialty meats and side dishes were still in high demand.
Finally, she discusses the company’s partnership with Koch’s Turkey Farm and Joyce Farms to source premium birds to meet its growing demand.
