CHICAGO – With the McDonald’s McRib sandwich returning nationwide on Dec. 2, the quick-service restaurant thought up a new promotion to get some hungry customers to order who were willing to part with some hair.
McDonald’s said it would give away 10,000 free sandwiches to participants in the Shave 4 McRib Sweepstakes.
“Beard or no beard, prepare for the McRib with a shave – or even a facial mask – because anyone can participate, from your brother to your mother, sister-in-law or cousin’s roommate,” the company said in a statement.
People must post a picture of “your cleanly-shaven or baby-smooth face on your public Twitter or public Instagram profile using #Shave4McRibSweepstakes and tag @mcdonalds."
The first 10,000 people who enter receive a free McRib through McDelivery and Uber Eats while supplies last.
“Our bearded fans know… facial hair and the McRib just don’t mix – believe me, I’ve tried,” said David Tovar vice president of communications for McDonald’s. “With the nationwide return of the McRib, we’re helping fans enjoy every delectable moment by encouraging them to shave for a chance to win a free McRib.”
The QSR partnered with No-Shave November for this initiative. The non-profit organization fundraises for cancer research, prevention and education. A purchase of a McRib on Dec. 2 will also donate to the charity.
