WASHINGTON – Misbranding ready-to-eat retail chicken noodle soup products that contain wheat but were labeled as “gluten free” triggered a March 12 public health alert by the US Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service’s (FSIS). The agency said it did not require the company manufacturing the soup to issue a recall of the products because they were made, distributed and sold to consumers directly from the same corporate entity and are no longer available for purchase.
The products that are included in the public health alert are:
- 24-oz. plastic containers of “Signature CAFÉ Chicken Noodle Soup with White Meat Chicken” with best by dates of Apr. 27, 2021, May 2, 2021, May 8, 2021, and May 16, 2021.
The products were sold in retail locations in Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
