OAKLAND, CALIF. – A culinary experience on offer by Belcampo Farms gives new meaning to “pampered chefs.”
Belcampo, which bills itself as a “climate-positive company,” announced two all-inclusive Meat Camps in 2021 slated for Sept. 3-5 and Sept. 24-26. At least 34 individuals will be treated to an immersive experience designed to give attendees a behind-the-scenes look at regenerative farming practices and an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of butchery and open-fire grilling in a COVID-19 safe outdoor setting at the Belcampo Estate in Gazelle, Calif. Campers will eat farm-to-table meals and beverages straight from Belcampo’s farms. Belcampo’s skilled farm staff and chefs will hold mini workshops and cooking sessions.
“Our Meat Camps are hands-on immersive culinary experiences that give our guests the chance to experience nature at the heart of our regenerative and organic ranch,” said Anya Fernald, co-founder of Belcampo. “After the year we’ve all had, we can’t wait to bring campers back to the farm to experience this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that they won’t get anywhere else.”
The cost of the Belcampo retreat is $1,499 for double occupancy, or $899 for singletons who will need to BYOT — bring your own tent — although the Belcampo experience will be the same minus the “glamping” accommodation.
At Belcampo Farms, livestock are raised, slaughtered and processed on 25,000 acres of its own US Department of Agriculture Certified Organic farms and inspected facilities as well as from a limited number of farmers in its partner farm program. The company produces a variety of beef, poultry, pork and lamb cuts, whole cuts of beef, ground beef, pork and lamb, beef jerky, sausages, whole Cornish chickens, smoked bacon, eggs, salami, snacks and bone broths.
