AUSTELL, GA. – On Aug. 23, firefighters in Cobb Country responded to a major fire at Patak Meat Products Inc., which specializes in European meats and sausage. 

In a statement posted on social media and its website, Patak said the fire caused severe damage but reported that nobody was hurt.   

“It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce the temporary closure of our retail, wholesale and online operators,” the company said in its statement. 

Cobb Country Fire and Emergency Services said that it is still investigating the fire with no foul play suspected. 

“The crews were able to save the front side of the building; where smokers and dry goods are stored,” the fire department said on Facebook. “Patak is a staple in our community and we’re devastated. The fire department family is looking forward to their reopening as soon as possible.” ⠀
