LAFAYETTE, COLO. — Planterra Foods is expanding its line of plant-based proteins with its True Bite Plant-Based Chicken Cutlet, which the company says is the first plant-based chicken cutlet on the market.
Also new from Planterra are its Plant-Based Chicken Shreds. Both products will ship under the OZO label.
What makes True Bite Chicken Cutlet and Shreds unlike anything else on the market is the flavor and texture, which is comparable to that of real, whole muscle chicken, according to Planterra. The new products are expected to be in retail meat cases in early 2022.
“As time goes on, the demand for protein will only continue to increase and the world won't be able to satisfy that demand with meat-based products alone,” said Darcey Macken, chief executive officer of Planterra Foods. “With chicken being the most popular protein in the United States, it was clear we needed to create a plant-based option where people don’t have to sacrifice this mealtime favorite and have a healthier and more sustainable option. Planterra is always aiming to provide delicious, sustainable solutions that are good for people and the planet, and our True Bite Chicken Cutlets and Shreds will do just that.”
