CHICAGO, ILL. — A partnership between Amazon Inc. and Grubhub Inc., a subsidiary of Just Eat Takeaway.com N.V., is bringing Amazon Prime members access to Grubhub+ for free for a year, as of July 6. Grubhub+ members will have access to free prepared food deliveries through the company’s online and mobile delivery service.
“Being able to give Prime members one year of Grubhub+ and no delivery fees from restaurants is our way of saying ‘thank you,’” said Jamil Ghani, vice president of Amazon Prime. “The value of a Prime membership continues to grow with this offer, and this year is shaping up to be a great time to enjoy the convenience, savings, fun and deliciousness that membership provides.”
Grubhub said over half of adult consumers consider takeout and food deliveries “essential” to their lifestyle, and nearly 40% use third-party delivery companies.
“Both Grubhub and Amazon have transformed people’s lives by providing them with unprecedented choice and convenience,” said Ariella Kurshan, senior vice president of Growth at Grubhub. “With the new Grubhub and Amazon offering, Prime members now can enjoy free delivery from hundreds of thousands of restaurants across the country, when they sign up for a year of free Grubhub+. I’m thrilled that new Grubhub diners from Amazon can get even more delivered to their door with their Prime membership.”
In addition to the year of free Grubhub deliveries, Prime members who sign up for Grubhub+ will receive other members-only benefits, such as a donation match on orders through Grubhub’s Donate the Change program.
