OTTAWA, ONTARIO — The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) recently announced a recall of Maple Lodge Farms Ltd. products because of undeclared allergens.
The companies’ brands Zabiha Halal and Maple Lodge Farms produced items containing undeclared pea protein. The three affected products include Zabiha Halal and Maple Lodge Farms’ Original Chicken Wieners and Zabiha Halal’s Corn Dog.
The Original Chicken Wiener products were labeled with a “best before date” of June 30, 2022, through Sept. 28, 2022. The recalled products were sold throughout Canada.
The recall was initiated by a consumer complaint. One reaction from the consumption of these products was reported.
CFIA said its investigation could lead to the recall of additional products.
