GREELEY, COLO. — The roof caught on fire at JBS USA’s hide processing facility late on Sept. 7 in Greeley, Colo.
The Greeley Fire Department responded to the call and made sure all persons were evacuated from the building of the second-alarm structure fire.
No injuries were reported at the scene. The fire department noted that it used hose lines from the roof and interior of the building to control the fire.
Nikki Richardson, a JBS spokesperson, stated that the fire impacted a secondary hide storage area which is located at an adjacent site near the Greeley beef production plant. The facility is fully open and operational as of Sept. 9.
“We are grateful to the first responders who were able to quickly contain and put out the fire,” Richardson added. “No team members were injured during the incident, and we are still evaluating the cause.”
