PHOENIX — Slater’s 50/50, a gourmet burger restaurant brand in Southern California, is launching a 50/50 product in the hot dog category. Slater’s 50/50 Beef & Bacon Hotdogs offer consumers a premium hot dog product, featuring 50% beef and 50% bacon.
“These half beef, half bacon hot dogs are a completely new innovation to the category,” said Jeff Gaunt, marketing director for BAR-S Foods Co., the manufacturer of the hot dogs. “We wanted to create something that really kicks the flavor to a whole new level, and we succeeded.”
The quarter-pound franks offer bacon flavor directly in the product, without having to wrap bacon strips around the hot dog.
“Slater’s 50/50 restaurants are known for our over-the-top menu options and mouth-watering flavor combinations,” said Ernie Romo, chief operating officer for Slater’s 50/50. “It was a natural move for us to develop an exciting new hot dog product extension of our gourmet restaurant experience, and we believe consumers will love being able to have them in the refrigerator at home.”
For a retail price between $5.99-$6.99 per package, Slater’s 50/50 Beef and Bacon Hotdogs are available in select Kroger stores in Atlanta, Nashville, Louisville and Columbus, Ohio, as well as Basha’s in Arizona, Smith’s Food & Drug stores in the Southwest, and other retailers nationwide.
