MOOREFIELD, W.VA. — A fire broke out at a Pilgrim’s Pride broiler room in Moorefield, W. Va., on Dec. 6 around 1:15 a.m., beckoning the help of multiple fire crews.
The Moorefield Fire Department reported that the two-story metal building was fully engulfed, but the fire was contained to the processing plant. Around 25-30 firefighters helped extinguish it.
No casualties occurred from the fire.
“We can confirm there was a fire at our Moorefield, W.Va., prepared foods facility,” a Pilgrim’s Pride spokesperson told MEAT+POULTRY. “Thankfully, no team members were injured during the incident, and we appreciate the first responders for their quick action and support.”
Pilgrim’s Pride said the plant is operational again, and an investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
