ST JOSEPH, MO. — The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) accepted CloverLeaf Animal Welfare Systems as the first accredited Proposition 12 Animal Care Program Certifying agent. CloverLeaf has authority to certify egg, pork and veal producers and distributors under the program. In addition to offering Prop 12 certification, the company conducts animal welfare audits.

CloverLeaf is offering a free webinar for the meat industry that will be held on Feb. 28. The Animal Welfare Officer Course (AWOC) will be led by Jason McAlister, president and chief executive officer at CloverLeaf, and Lauren Davis, chief operating officer and director of global operations at CloverLeaf.

CloverLeaf said through its program, it has certified 16 million animals across the Americas.

Company officials said it’s the only “one-stop-shop” for animal welfare solutions for large and small companies in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
