COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS – The Texas A&M Foundation recently announced that it would build a new meat science center on its RELLIS campus in Bryan, Texas.
The university said the new facility would be more than 75,000 square feet equipped with meat coolers, laboratories and areas for students to experience hands-on learning in meat processing. Plans for the center also include a state-of-the-art processing floor with dedicated observation areas.
The new center will replace the Rosenthal Meat Science and Technology Center (RMSTC), which opened in 1983. The new building will keep its current name, which was named after E.M. “Manny” Rosenthal.
With the upgrades, the university expects to draw more industry meetings like the famous Barbecue Summer Camp, Camp Brisket and Beef 101 programs, along with 4-H, FFA and other youth events.
Texas A&M expects the new facility to open within five years.
