KANSAS CITY, MO. — The annual Sosland Publishing Purchasing Seminar is returning for the 46th year at the Loews hotel in Kansas City, Mo., June 4-6. A hub for food industry experts and professionals, the event will include presentations on packaging, logistics and ingredients — including proteins, grains, dairy and more — as well as networking opportunities.
Sosland invited Adam Stout, risk management consultant at StoneX Financial Inc., to give an overview on the state of beef, pork and poultry sectors for the second year in a row.
Stout specializes in offering risk management services to commercial clients, from grain handlers to livestock feeders and processors to foodservice chains. Since joining StoneX in 2005, Stout has provided clients commodity consulting and advisory services. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration and mathematics from William Jewell College.
During the seminar’s proteins sessions, Stout will explain how factors like drought, inflation and labor shortages have impacted meat production and demand in the United States. The sessions also include a dive into China’s hog herd recovery, as the country fights against outbreaks of African swine fever (ASF). With highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) reaching record numbers in its most recent wave, Stout will offer insight into what stakeholders can expect for the future of the poultry industry.
