WASHINGTON — Miami-based importer DEKA Trading Corp. is recalling nearly 13,800 lbs of ready-to-eat pork rinds imported from Guatemala, announced the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The products are being recalled since Guatemala is ineligible to export meat products to the United States.
Regardless of their product date, the following items are subject to the recall:
- 5.3 oz (150 grams) foil pouch packages containing “TorTrix Con Chicharrón.”
The pork rinds do not bear an establishment number nor a USDA mark of inspection. They were shipped to Georgia, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Virginia for wholesale and retail.
During FSIS surveillance activities, the agency discovered the problem that the pork rinds were imported from an ineligible country.
FSIS said there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of the products.
