SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Global Foods Processing Inc. filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) with the state of Iowa confirming it would lay off 92 employees.

The official layoff date listed in the WARN filing was June 30. The plant was listed as a pork processor on the USDA’s Food Safety Inspection Service site. 

In 2011, Global Foods Processing announced plans to build a new facility. Multiple reports said the new facility was going to be 82,000 square feet. 

The company planned to tear down the former John Morrell pork plant on the site, but that was never completed.
