SPRINGDALE, ARK. – Without an abundance of promotional fanfare, Tyson Foods Inc. launched two new meat alternative products earlier this year, which were shipped in late March and have been available in retail stores and foodservice outlets since April. A spokesperson with the company said the new products are Tyson branded on the package and include Plant Based Nuggets and Spicy Plant Based Nuggets.
Unlike some of the company’s Raised & Rooted line of pea protein-based nuggets launched in 2019, the newest offerings are made with 100% soy-based protein. The retail products come in 22 oz, resealable packages. Each serving contains 11 grams of protein and 3 grams of fiber.
At the time of the Raised & Rooted brand launch, Tyson also announced its plans to introduce a blended burger line, made with Angus beef and pea protein isolate. Additionally, Tyson’s Aidells brand also launched its version of blended sausage and meatball products, combining antibiotic-free chicken and plant-based ingredients.
