CHICAGO — A Worker Adjustment Retraining Notification (WARN) notice in Illinois showed that approximately 228 Tyson Foods corporate employees would be laid off following the closure of offices in the state.

The notice stated that 177 people from offices in Chicago and 51 employees in Downers Grove, III., would have their last day of work on July 31.

In October 2022, the company announced it would consolidate its corporate employees to Springdale, Ark. 

“When we announced the move to our corporate office in Arkansas, our goal was to make the proposition of relocating as attractive and easy as possible while understanding that some may not be able to make the move,” Tyson Foods said. “For those who cannot move, we appreciate each of their many contributions. For those who have made the decision to move, we are extremely grateful and look forward to building the future of Tyson Foods together.”

Tyson stated last year that employees who would not move to Arkansas were eligible for severance which was determined individually.

In April, Tyson also made the decision to eliminate about 10% of corporate positions and 15% of senior leadership roles.

A WARN notice was recently announced in South Dakota for approximately 262 employees who worked at the former Tyson Fresh Meats office in Dakota Dunes, SD.
