WASHINGTON — The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced an update to a previous recall in June for ready-to-eat pork rinds. The agency is reissuing the recall to include additional products and an increase in quantity.
Additional products for the recall, regardless of the date produced, include the following:
- 2.8 oz. (80g) foil pouch packages containing “Señorial Tortillitas MIX CON CHICHARRONES.”
The original announcement recalled around 13,800 lbs of 5.3-oz. foil pouch packages containing “TorTrix Con Chicharrón.”
Neither of the products bear an establishment number nor a USDA mark of inspection. They were shipped to wholesale and retail locations in Georgia, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Virginia.
The products, together totaling 20,981 lbs, were imported from Guatemala, a country ineligible to export meat products to the United States. Miami-based importer DEKA Trading Corp. is executing the recall.
After the updated recall, FSIS noted there have still been no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of the products.
