WASHINGTON – The Food and Drug Administration’s director of the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (C.F.S.A.N.), Stephen Sundlof, D.V.M., Ph.D., is resigning to tackle a two-year assignment with the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, relays the American Meat Institute.

A 16-year F.D.A. veteran, Mr. Sundlof has worked 14 years as director of the Center for Veterinary Medicine (C.V.M.).

Michael Landa, deputy director for regulatory affairs at C.F.S.A.N. since 2004 and who began his F.D.A. career in 1978 as assistant chief counsel for enforcement, medical devices and veterinary medicine, has been named acting director while Roberta Wagner and Donald Kraemer will serve as acting deputy directors.
