KANSAS CITY, MO. — Sub sandwiches are making their summer debut on the menus of many sandwich chains.
Subway added a variety of new sandwiches to its menu in the first update to its Series menu since it debuted in July 2022. In the expansion, Subway added four sandwiches, bringing the total Series sandwiches to 18 offerings. The four new sandwiches include the Titan Turkey, Grand Slam Ham, garlic roast beef and the Beast.
“Over the past two years, we overhauled our expansive pantry of ingredients and debuted a whole new way to Subway with chef-crafted signature sandwiches,” said Trevor Haynes, North America president at Subway. “These major changes led to rave reviews from our guests and record-breaking sales. This year's changes are even bigger and more transformational. The addition of freshly sliced meats is the most impactful yet as it gives our guests a better sandwich — raising the bar even higher for the brand that defined fresh.”
Sub shop Blimpie is adding two sandwiches to its menu inspired by the flavors of Caribbean jerk chicken. The Caribbean jerk chicken sandwiches are available in sweet and spicy varieties for a limited time.
“Blimpie is excited to introduce our new Caribbean jerk chicken subs to menus nationwide,” said Sam Carity, director of marketing for Kahala Brands, parent company of Blimpie. “Our new limited-time offerings highlight the sweet and spicy flavors of the season into two mouthwatering subs that epitomize a bigger, better Blimpie in 2023.”
Pickleman’s rolled out four new menu items featuring No Antibiotics Ever pulled pork. The pulled pork offerings include The Cuban, the smokehouse stack and the barbecue pulled pork sandwich.
“Serving healthier, responsibly sourced food builds our customers’ trust and loyalty in the brand,” said Doug Stritzel, founder and chief executive officer of Pickleman’s Gourmet Cafe. “Real food tastes better and contributes to our sales growth and industry leading average unit volume.”
