WOODBRIDGE, NJ. — A woman died on July 28 following an accident at the United Premium Foods (UPF) processing plant in Woodbridge, NJ.
Local police responded to the accident that involved a piece of machinery, according to multiple reports. The identity of the person was not released.
“We are devastated by the loss of our longtime employee, who was a beloved member of our company,” said Ken Mayer, chief executive officer of United Premium Foods. “Our deepest condolences go out to her daughter at this difficult time. We are fully cooperating with the official investigation.”
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will investigate the accident.
The facility processes various products and runs slicing, packaging and ready-to-eat packaging services for Italian meat products and other items. UPF also does pet food production and provides cold storage services.
The company bought Amboy Group out of bankruptcy in 2019.
