SEATTLE — iFoodDS and IBM have created a tech-enabled traceability solution called iFoodDS Trace Exchange.
The new software solution will allow companies to better comply with the US Food and Drug Administration’s Food Traceability Rule FSMA 204(d). The solution features IBM’s IBM Sterling Supply Chain Intelligence Suite and the IBM Food Trust Network.
The FDA’s food traceability rule says manufacturing companies must establish additional traceability recordkeeping requirements for businesses that manufacture, process, pack or hold certain foods, and include data sharing requirements. The rule also states that it may allow for faster identification and rapid removal of potentially contaminated foods from the market, according to the company.
The solution is powered by the IBM Sterling Supply Chain Intelligence Suite and iFoodDS Trace Exchange. With the software, companies will be able to join and share data on the IBM Food Trust network. Users also will be able to have access to FSMA 204 data.
