KANSAS CITY, MO. — With the demand for spicy flavors ramping up, particularly among younger consumers, quick-service-restaurant menus are heating up with new offerings.
For example, Yum! Brands Inc. subsidiary KFC launched Hot & Spicy Wings as the NFL season kicked off in September. The wings are spicy marinated and double hand-breaded in KFC’s signature Extra Crispy breading. KFC’s Hot & Spicy flavor made its US debut following its success in international markets.
“We’re coming in hot (and spicy) this football season with a truly unmatched deal,” said Nick Chavez, chief marketing officer at KFC U.S.
Hardee’s, a CKE Restaurants Holdings Inc. brand, unveiled several Nashville Hot flavor options for its Hand-Breaded Chicken platform. New menu items include the Nashville Hot Hand-Breaded Chicken Sandwich, Nashville Hot Hand-Breaded Chicken Tenders and Nashville Hot Hand-Breaded Chicken Biscuits.
“At Hardee's, we're all about offering the homestyle foods our guests crave,” said Mallory Jones, director of brand marketing for Hardee's. “We're expanding our famous chicken lineup with just the right amount of spice. The flavors speak for themselves. While there's a nod to our Tennessee headquarters, we know guests across the country will love this new flavor.”
Jack in the Box Inc. is bringing back its Halloween-themed Monster Taco for the third year in a row and adding a spicy twist with the Angry Monster Taco. Featuring melted American cheese, shredded lettuce, taco sauce and spices, the Angry Monster Taco is wrapped in a red shell. Both of the large-sized tacos will be available at Jack in the Box locations from Sept. 25 to Nov. 19.
“Jack in the Box champions tacos of all sizes, from tiny tacos to monster-sized, and knows variety matters,” the company said.
