CESENA, ITALY — Amadori, an Italian agri-food company specializing in poultry, announced on Oct. 13 that it acquired a 70% stake in fellow Italian poultry company Forno d’Oro.
As a food processing company, Forno d’Oro specializes in high-end poultry products. The Cosaros family, who founded the company, will keep the remaining 30% stake and continue to partner with the new management.
“Through this majority partnership, in which the founding family of Forno d’Oro remains within the corporate structure to collaborate with us on further business development, we equip ourselves with know-how and structures to develop the offer of products with high added value and service content: elements that will allow us to plan the business of the next strategic plan with these additional levers,” said Denis Amadori, chief executive officer of Amadori. “The group acquires cutting-edge production capacity and important operational flexibility, which will allow us to preside over the markets with our brand to achieve further business development margins.”
Amadori expects to bring on Forno d’Oro to respond to the growing demand for poultry meats and expand its variety of chicken, turkey roasts and cold cuts for its brands and leading retailers. By adding this operation, the company looks to develop a market that makes up 14% of total cold cuts and cured meats in Italy.
“Since its birth, Forno d’Oro has always been a family even before a company, and today it becomes part of a large group at the top of the Italian agri-food sector, which shares our same values: pursuit of quality, care, attention and passion for their work,” said Severino Cosaro of Forno d’Oro. “We are happy with this agreement and together with Amadori we begin a new phase of growth and development, always in the name of the best Italian gastronomic tradition.”
Based in Vicenza, Italy, Forno d’Oro started in the late 1990s but was active in the poultry business for more than 40 years. According to Amadori, Forno d’Oro had a turnover of 26 million euros ($27.4 million) and employs 76 workers at an 8,000-square-meter production facility.
During February 2022, Amadori acquired another Italian meat processor Rugger, which was known for the Lenti ham brand.
