READING, PA. — Quaker Maid Meats (QMM) recently announced that Todd Bray would become the new president of the business.
The company, known for the Steak-umm brand, stated that Bray would succeed Sergei Szortyka, the son of QMM Founder Stanley Szortyka, who passed away in 2022.
Sergei will remain chief executive officer. His sister, Nancy Szortyka Deale, also works as QMM’s chief operating officer.
Before becoming president, Bray worked most recently as vice president of operations. He’s been with QMM since Steak-umm was purchased, and he helped install the SU production equipment.
“Todd has been an invaluable member of our team for 25 years, and his wealth of experience in the industry is extraordinary,” said Sergei and Nancy in a statement. “We will continue to play a vital role in the organization and are excited about the future of QMM under Todd’s leadership. We look forward to achieving new milestones together.”
Bray brings more than 35 years of experience in the meat industry with extensive knowledge of government regulation, processing equipment and plant operations, according to QMM.
He will be the first non-family member to lead QMM.
The company started in 1960 before becoming a leading frozen sandwich steak producer with three plants.
