ST. JOSEPH, MO. – Triumph Foods announced on March 12 that it received the North American Meat Institute’s (NAMI) Worker Safety Recognition Award for the third year in a row.
“Our top priority is the safety and care of our team members,” said Matt England, president and chief executive officer for Triumph Foods. “We create opportunities for them and our community to prosper and do so through a safety-first culture. We are proud to again be recognized by our industry and NAMI with this employee-focused honor.”
The recognition comes from the National Safety Council and is sponsored by NAMI. The program aims to enhance safety performance by establishing sound safety and health programs at the plant level. The award confirms that Triumph Foods achieved a high level of safety performance as part of its ongoing efforts to reduce occupational injury and illness.
“We are proud of our members’ ongoing dedication to safety that has led to Triumph Foods receiving this award three years in a row,” said Anuhar Udave, representative of United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 2. “We have achieved this honor through a combined commitment to ensuring the highest standards of safety at Triumph Foods.”
The meat producer previously received several honors for workplace safety, including NAMI’s Award of Merit. It also previously accepted Safety Verified Certification through Matrix Clinical Solutions. That program, which was developed with Cleveland Clinic, demonstrates Triumph’s commitment to limit the impact of COVID-19 on its facility.
Triumph employs more than 2,400 workers and produces over 1.5 billion lbs of pork per year.
