"Last month we saw some of the highest sow costs on record, with average prices above $60," said Mike Townsley, Bob Evans Foods president. "Bob Evans hasn't experienced a price increase in many years, but with unprecedented costs in these raw materials, we're forced to take pricing action."
Townsley said the company is committing to several efficiency and cost saving initiatives to alleviate margin pressures, which should provide some buffer against passing on all the costs to customers.
"We understand the consumer is looking for a premium product at an affordable price, and we don't take price increases lightly," he said. "We're committed to delivering value for the long-term."
