KANSAS CITY, MO. — With spring well on its way, new sandwiches are popping up on menus across the United States.
Applebee’s is expanding its menus with the “Whole Lotta Bacon” burger, which features applewood-smoked bacon, seared into a beef patty and topped with three slices of bacon, a bacon sauce and American cheese.
“If you love bacon, we’ve got the burger for you: our new ‘Whole Lotta Bacon’ burger,” said Joel Yashinsky, chief marketing officer at Applebee’s. “This burger has all your bacon bases covered with applewood-smoked bacon seared into the beef patty, bacon in the tangy sauce, and bacon slices on top. Don’t miss your chance to enjoy one of our new guest-favorite items.”
Subway has reintroduced honey oat bread as a limited-time menu option for nationwide restaurants after a four-year hiatus. The company described the offering as multigrain bread topped with honey oat.
News of the product launch comes a few weeks after Subway unveiled plans to introduce a lavash-style flatbread that will serve as the base for a variety of new wraps.
"These latest upgrades to Subway's menu will delight any sandwich lover craving something with bold and unique flavor, whether it's light and sweet or bringing the heat," said Paul Fabre, senior vice president of culinary and innovation at Subway.
Chick-fil-A is testing a new sandwich at participating restaurants in Raleigh, NC. For a limited-time, consumers can order the pretzel cheddar club sandwich, which features a boneless chicken breast with applewood smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato and soft seasoned cheddar cheese, served on a toasted cross-cut pretzel bun and Dijon sauce on the side.
