WATERTOWN, MASS. — Direct-to-consumer meat and seafood company ButcherBox announced the acquisition of Truffle Shuffle on May 2.
Truffle Shuffle is a virtual cook-along experience platform founded by former French Laundry chefs Jason McKinney and Tyler Vorce. The platform offers on-demand cooking classes led by Michelin award-winning chefs with exclusive ingredient kits. Cooking classes range from sharing recipes like pan-seared ribeye to homemade pasta as well as tips and tricks focused on knife sharpening and knife handling skills, mastering seasonings and sauces, and cooking techniques, among other topics.
“The Truffle Shuffle team has done an incredible job bringing people together around mealtimes,” said Mike Salguero, founder and chief executive officer of ButcherBox. “As a brand, our purpose is to help people eat better and while we’ve been focused on helping them eat higher-quality protein, now through the Truffle Shuffle integration, we can inspire and educate the way they are preparing our proteins too.”
With the acquisition, ButcherBox aims to boost cooking confidence among US consumers, as the company embraces media and community as part of its overall strategy for serving and transforming the meat industry.
Truffle Shuffle will continue to operate as its own brand while bringing its cooking content library to ButcherBox customers to enhance their cooking experiences.
ButcherBox is a B-Corp Certified company, delivering 100% grass-fed and grass-finished beef, free-range organic chicken, pork raised crate-free and wild-caught seafood directly to consumers’ doors.
