LOUISVILLE, KY. — Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), a subsidiary of Yum! Brands, introduced its latest flavoring on June 10 to its KFC Saucy Nuggets.
The quick-service restaurant plans to have Korean BBQ, Honey Sriracha, and Honey BBQ available for the nuggets at the start of the summer.
“In response to requests from our customers, we’re rolling out our popular Honey BBQ sauce on our nuggets,” said Nick Chavez, chief marketing officer for KFC US. “KFC guests have loved our Saucy Nuggets and we’re excited to continue to introduce new flavors into the mix. Our Saucy Nuggets are made the KFC way — starting with our 100% white meat chicken nuggets, hand-breaded by our cooks with our distinctive Original Recipe of 11 herbs and spices and sauced to perfection.”
The Honey BBQ flavor is a sweet, smoky and tangy sauce with brown sugar and honey combined with the tanginess of tomato and secret spices. The Korean BBQ will feature soy sauce, garlic, sugar and sesame to bring out an umami flavor. Finally, for the Honey Sriracha, KFC said it would be a sweet heat using a blend of red chili peppers, garlic, and honey, which plays into the growing demand for sweet heat.
According to information from the company, it plans to sell 10 KFC Saucy Nuggets at $5.99, with prices and participation varying.
