WASHINGTON — Gonzales, La.-based Bonneval Foods LLC is recalling all barbecue pork skin products that are currently available in commerce due to misbranding, announced the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) on June 12. The product contains soy and wheat — known allergens that were not declared on the product label.
The following product is subject to recall:
- 1.7-oz. plastic bags containing “BONNEVAL’S BBQ Pork Skins.”
The pork skin products bear the establishment number “EST. 2249” inside the USDA mark of inspection. They were distributed to retail locations in Louisiana.
FSIS discovered the problem during routine in-plant verification activities. The agency workers identified soy and wheat as ingredients in a Worcestershire powder that is used as an ingredient in the barbecue pork skins.
FSIS said there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of the product.
