EL SEGUNDO, CALIF. — Plant-based meat alternative company Beyond Meat Inc. is expanding its Beyond IV product line with its fourth generation Beyond Sausage. The introduction follows Beyond Meat’s launch of its fourth generation Beyond Burger and Beyond Beef products in February.

Beyond Meat said it reformulated Beyond Sausage to offer enhanced flavor and a texture that more closely resembles animal-sourced meat.

The Beyond Sausage is made with avocado oil, offers reduced saturated fat by 66% versus its previous Beyond Sausage and features 17 grams of protein per serving, according to the company.

Beyond Sausage flavors include Beyond Sausage brat original and hot Italian. Hot Italian will launch later this summer.

“The new Beyond Sausage is an incredibly delicious and versatile product that is a must have for your summer gatherings,” said Diana Stavaridis, senior culinary manager at Beyond Meat. “From classic sausage, peppers and onions, to the perfect protein-topper for pastas, salads and more, these juicy sausages grill gorgeously and sear super well thanks to the addition of avocado oil.”

In the most recent quarterly earnings report, Beyond Meat incurred a loss of $54.4 million, only slightly better than the previous year when the company recorded a loss of $59 million. Quarterly sales fell 18% to $75.6 million from $92.2 million the year before.
