STARBUCK, MINN. – A small Minnesota meat processor endured a devastating fire over the Fourth of July holiday.

A news release by the Starbuck police and fire department stated that officers and fire fighters responded to a fire at Starbuck Meat Locker around 12:45 p.m. on July 6. The business was closed at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.

“Upon arrival there was heavy smoke and visible flames observed coming out of the roof of the locker,” the Starbuck Police Department said in its statement.

Local firefighters called in help from other fire departments in neighboring Lowry, Villard, Cyrus, and Hancock.

Local reports explained that the fire response occurred during the Heritage Days Parade in Starbuck. The parade was scheduled to pass by the meat locker before it was rerouted.

The fire remains under investigation by the Minnesota State Fire Marshall’s Office.
