CHICAGO — Speco Inc., a Chicago-based manufacturer of meat grinder plates and knives for the meat processing industry, announced the promotions of Jaclyn LaGro to vice president of operations and Charlee Antonelli to vice president of finance.

LaGro and Antonelli, fourth-generation members of the family-owned Speco management team, have been active in the business for over a decade. Their father, Craig Hess, has been with the company since 1974 and currently leads the business as chief executive officer.

“I can’t put into words how happy and proud we are that both daughters are involved with the family business,” Hess said. “We are confident in their ability to carry on the great legacy of high-quality products and customer service for the next 100 years.”

LaGro began her career with Speco in 2010, where she coordinated Speco’s regulation compliance and within a few years took charge of operations. She spearheaded the implementation for Speco’s new operating system and continues to forge the way in efficiency and production maximization.

“I am thrilled to accept this new role and responsibility with the company,” LaGro said. “Alongside my sister and the rest of the incredible team we have built over the years, we will strive to continue the legacy of excellence Speco has established in our industry.”

Antonelli joined Speco in 2011. She has held various roles within the company and found her strength when she organized the restructuring of the company’s purchasing department. Her implementations have led Speco to streamline production and adapt quicker customer demand.

“We grew up coming to Speco with my dad every Saturday, so it really feels like a second home,” Antonelli said. “We have a very strong family relationship, which in turn helps us run a strong business. I’m excited to take on this new role and see Speco continue to grow in the future.”

As Speco celebrates its 100th year in business this year, these recent promotions help position the company for continued success and for the transition to new leadership in the coming years.
