NASHVILLE, TENN. — Monogram Foods recently filed a Worker Adjustment Retraining Notification (WARN) Act notice posted by the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development that it plans to close its Dickson, Tenn., sandwich facility, which would affect 237 employees.

“We have made the difficult decision to suspend operations at our Dickson, Tenn., facility as customer demand has softened for the products manufactured at the plant,” a company spokesperson said in a statement to MEAT+POULTRY. “We purchased the Dickson plant with intentions to make it a profitable and successful site, and while we have explored a range of options to continue operations, we have not identified a path to do so that is viable for our business. We are committed to providing support and resources to all affected team members, including job placement services, severance packages, benefits assistance, and more.”

Monogram added that all Dickson employees working at the facility would be considered for open roles at other locations within the company.

“There will be no disruptions to customer services because of this decision. We are grateful for the Dickson community that has welcomed and embraced our company and our team,” the spokesperson said.

The WARN letter stated that employees at the plant are not represented by a collective bargaining agreement and do not have bumping rights.

“The Northern Middle Local Workforce Development Area will be responsible for the oversight of the continued follow-up of Rapid Response and Dislocated Worker services associated with this event,” the letter said.

According to information on the Monogram website, the Dickson plant featured 103,000 square feet of production space and three handheld sandwich production lines. The facility also features frozen breakfast sandwich assembly, refrigerated sandwich assembly, and portable snack assembly.

The plant was initially built in 1989, with upgrades and expansion occurring in 2005.
