HARRISBURG, PA. — The Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a meat theft that occurred at Nicholas Meat LLC in Loganton, Pa.
The robbery was believed to have occurred around 5:15 a.m. on July 14, when at least two suspects stole over $16,000 worth of raw meat.
The police reported that the suspects cut through a barbed wire chain link fence and broke into several refrigeration trailers on the property. They secured the raw meat in a white Penske box truck backed up to the fence. The truck had a single cab, rear dual wheels and displayed an unknown registration.
This would not be the first time Nicholas Meat has endured a hefty theft on its property.
In 2015, a trucker loaded $110,000 worth of meat into a trailer during a scheduled pickup. He drove off and never showed up at his delivery point in Milwaukee, Wis., according to a media report. The meat was estimated to weigh 40,000 lbs,.
Authorities later discovered the driver used a fake ID to get the delivery contract, and the company information on the truck was fraudulent, the report said.
