Our natural alternative portfolio includes VegStable® Natural Cure, VegStable® Plus, VegStable® Fresh, and VegStable® Secure, all designed to enhance taste, quality, and texture while protecting and extending shelf life.
VegStable® Natural Cure offers a natural alternative to chemical additives like sodium nitrite. Made from celery or Swiss chard, with acerola cherry as an accelerator, this solution utilizes compounds inherently found in nature. Celery and Swiss chard contain naturally occurring nitrates that are extracted to create the cure, while acerola cherry provides ascorbic acid to act as a cure accelerator. VegStable® Natural Cure is versatile and can be applied across a range of products, including bacon, deli meats, and pet food.
VegStable® Plus is a texture and yield enhancer alternative to chemical phosphates, starches, gums, and carrageenan, made from rice bran extract. This natural ingredient helps yield and juiciness, providing a more tender and flavorful final product. It supports a transparent, clean-label ingredient declaration while maintaining or improving yield and reducing purge.
FFP performed pilot trials intended to demonstrative relative performance between the control subject and VegStable® Plus. Test results have shown that VegStable® Plus significantly improves tenderness and yield in chicken breast strips, proving its effectiveness in enhancing product quality. In fact, when compared to the control, VegStable® Plus provided a 15% more tender chicken breast and a 5% increase in yield.
VegStable® Fresh is an antioxidant alternative to chemical such as BHA and BHT, made from natural ingredients like green tea, rosemary, and acerola cherry. This effective solution extends shelf life, inhibits rancidity, and maintains fresh color and flavor.
FFP’s pilot trials demonstrated VegStable® Fresh slows oxidation and extends the shelf life of pepperoni by up to 150 days, eliminating the need for synthetic alternatives and ensuring your products stay fresh longer.
VegStable® Secure is FFP’s latest innovation, an all-natural antimicrobial solution that protects foods from pathogens and spoilage, including Listeria monocytogenes. This product leverages the power of celery to safeguard your brand while extending shelf-life and improving food safety, naturally.
When comparing VegStable® Secure to the control and lactate/diacetate, FFP’s product inhibits the growth of Listeria monocytogenes in uncured deli turkey over a 90-day period, ultimately showcasing the power or natural alternatives in controlling harmful pathogens and spoilage.
