OTTAWA, ONTARIO — A partnership between three major Canada-based meat trade groups is bringing a first-of-its-kind Canadian Meat Advocacy Office to Beijing, China. The Canadian Meat Council (CMC), Canadian Pork Council (CPC) and Canadian Cattle Association (CCA) plan to launch the advocacy office shortly.
For decades, Canada has been supplying China with reliable, sustainable and wholesome products, CMC stated in a press release. The office will serve as a connecting link between the Canadian pork and beef industries and the Chinese market, ensuring that the two countries’ collaboration continues to grow.
“The chance to demonstrate our commitment to such an important market is an opportunity that we are very excited about,” said David Typer, chair of the Canadian Meat Advocacy Board.
Plans for this office have been underway for several years. The Canadian government, Canada China Business Council (CCBC) and leaders across the sector have collaborated to develop and execute a business model that is attentive and responsive to the needs of Canadian producers and processors.
The Canadian Meat Advocacy Board is beginning a search for a China representative soon. Once the hiring process is complete, the office will officially commence.
