PORTLAND, ORE. — The non-profit Good Meat Project (GMP) launched a nationwide resource for consumers to easily locate meat products that align with their “Good Meat” values. The Good Meat Finder provides a directory of farms and ranches, butcher shops, restaurants and retailers so that consumers can support locally and responsibly made meat products.
“Empowering producers one connection at a time, with a tool like the Good Meat Finder means we're bridging the gap between values-driven consumers and responsible producers, making it easier for people to find and support meat that's raised with care for animals, land and people," said Michele Thorne, Good Meat Project executive director. “The Good Meat Finder has it all and is the gateway to a community that cares about how their meat is raised and connects with consumers who share our values.”
By becoming listed on the Good Meat Finder, businesses can seamlessly connect with values-driven consumers. Benefits of a listing include increased visibility and online presence, access to GMP’s educational resources and networking opportunities, and a community of transparency and trust, according to GMP.
Within the directory, consumers can discover a business’s geographical location, type of operation, type of product offerings, production practices (e.g., 100% grass fed, pasture-raised, regenerative), business models (e.g., BIPOC-operated, women-operated, employee-owned), purchasing options (e.g., CSA, farmers market, bulk animal shares) and certifications.
The Good Meat Finder is supported by the ASPCA Fund to End Factory Farming.
