ITASCA, ILL. — Global ingredient supplier Ajinomoto Health & Nutrition North America Inc. (AHN) officially launched its inaugural startup challenge, which seeks entrepreneurs who have developed new functional proteins, new flavor compounds, enzyme systems and next generation sweeteners. Known as Next Generation Taste & Texture Technologies (NGT3), the event offers cutting-edge startups the opportunity to partner with AHN’s multinational team to bring their ideas to market.

“Ajinomoto Health & Nutrition is excited to kick off this inaugural event and offer our services and mentorship,” said Ryan Smith, chief growth officer and executive vice president. “One of our goals is to champion startups and founder-led businesses in the ingredient industry that focus on the future and innovation of food. Through NGT3 collaboration, we want to inspire new thinking and uncover innovation in the food and beverage industry with new taste and texture technology.”

Participating startups will have the chance to pitch to global food and beverage experts. Winners will receive an equity-free grand prize — $15,000 for first place, $10,000 for second and $5,000 for third. The first-place winner will also receive exclusive access to AHN professionals to collaborate on a go-to-market strategy.

To participate in the event, entrepreneurs must submit their applications to www.nextgen3.eco by Dec. 31. Finalists will be notified on Jan. 15, 2025, with an invitation to the in-person pitch event held at AHN’s North American headquarters in Itasca, Ill., on Feb. 5, 2025.
